Hostal Oporto |

|
Friendliness | Cleanliness | Value for Money | |
Comments: Room with bed, and bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Hallway smelled rotten and common areas were dense with cigarette smoke, though the room itself had no odors. None of the cheap accommodation near the ferry port was appealing. Of 3 hostals we viewed, this seemed to be the best. |

Comments: Small room with telephone, safe, heater, and bathroom with tub and toilet. White wallpapered walls are stained and torn. The hotel receptionist repeatedly advised that all valuables should be locked in the room safe - anything we carry in the city is likely to be pick-pocketed. |

Comments: Clean tiled floor and white walls, twin beds with covers that match the window curtains, desk, bedside lamp, sink, and heater. Some of the rooms have an excellent view of the Júcar Gorge without a difference in cost. Bathroom with shower and toilet are in the hall and shared by all guests. No English is spoken. |

Comments: The entire Hostal is non-smoking. Room with bed, dresser, desk, sink, and heater. 30 meters away is an inexpensive self-service coin laundry. Hostal is conveniently located within walking distance of the Prado Museum, Botanical Garden, and the televised year-2001 count-down square, Plaza de la Puerta del Sol. Some Hostal staff speak limited English. |

Comments: This Hostal is much nicer than Hostal Castro one floor below. Room with bed, dresser, desk, TV (no English channels), heater, and WC with tub, sink, and toilet. 30 meters away is an inexpensive self-service coin laundry. Hostal is conveniently located within walking distance of the Prado Museum, Botanical Garden, and the televised year-2001 count-down square, Plaza de la Puerta del Sol. Some Hostal staff speak limited English. |

Comments: Rooms in the center of the building are quiet; those along the exterior walls have street noise. Room has a squeaky steel-framed bed, dresser, and sink. Toilets and showers are in the hall. No heater in the room. Hot water supply is insufficient for the number of guests. 20 walk to any tourist attraction. Accommodation in the Santa Cruz district (about 30 minutes walk north of this hostal) is more convenient to tourist areas and the train station. |
