Comments: The rooms are clean and have proper furnishings, but the neighborhood is borderline. Rossio Square is an area with numerous bus stops and lots of loiterers. We viewed this hostal and decided against it because of the neighborhood. One of the staff speaks some English.

Comments: In the room, the furniture is utilitarian but comfortable. The surrounding neighborhood is good. The staff are extremely accommodating. They even allowed us to store luggage for 7 days without charge. One of the staff speaks very limited English, the others none.

Comments: A privately owned fully furnished apartment with kitchen, dining room, bedroom with double bed, and bathroom with tub, sink, and toilet. Towels, bed sheets, and utilities are included in this price (Esc 2000 is about US$9.40). No heating. Plenty of hot water. The dining room window has a view of the ocean. Grandma doesn't advertise her apartment. Ask for it at Restaurant Atlântico, run by her family who speak English.

Room has a bed and a dresser. Sheets smelled musty. No heating in the house. The owner will bring a portable heater if you ask.
